Famed as London’s biggest project since the M25, works on the New Thames Crossing are currently under public consultation and will link the M25, A13 and A2 – providing the largest underground commuter tunnel at some 2.4 miles long.

The £6 billion infrastructure project will pave way for increased economic development and is set to connect Kent and Essex- looking to double the capacity across the River Thames and bringing thousands of new jobs and homes.

Contributing an £8 billion boost to the UK economy, the Lower Thames Crossing will be the largest single road project in Britain since the completion of the M25 some 30 years ago , creating some 6000 jobs.

With works ongoing at our latest site, X1 Chatham Waters, Kent, the crossing will help to unlock opportunities in wider regeneration for the area and looks to reduce commuter times, in turn facilitating new business opportunities.

With the Governments projections of a 30% increase in journeys across the Thames by 2025, the project has been hailed as essential new infrastructure and a welcomed upgrade to the current commuter provisions, with the capability to almost halve the northbound crossing times at The Dartford Crossing.

Highways England have noted the project will add an additional 70% capacity across the Thames east of London and is scheduled to be open by 2027.
