New Metrolink line opens months ahead of schedule

Amid the COVID -19 pandemic, it was good to read some positive news today in that the £350m Metrolink extension to Greater Manchester carried out its FIRST service on Sunday at 06:31 – helping key workers make essential journeys.

The Trafford Park line opened SEVEN months ahead of schedule and left Cornbrook for the Trafford Centre on the first journey as part of its 3.4 mile extension.

Whilst there is a reduced usage during this time and social distancing in place, it’s great to see the project come together not only ahead of schedule but at a time when it’s needed more than ever.

Let’s work together to help support key workers who continue with essential works towards the countries response to the COVID -19 outbreak.
